HUNTING

People from all over the United States come to Oxford to enjoy the excellent hunting. Groups of hunters return on a yearly basis to hunt deer, pheasant, turkey, quail, ducks,
geese, dove, rabbit, coyote and more.  More hunting.


CAMPING AND FISHING

The Fishing Pond at George Mithcell Park just south of Oxford is stocked with Crappie, Bass and Catfish. Good fishing can also be found in the Republican River which flows past Oxford.  Two large lakes can be found within 50 miles of Oxford.

Note:   George Mitchell Park is on  37.7 acres and provides RV Parking and 10 sites with water and electric hook-ups. More about George Mitchell Park


WILDLIFE

There is a large variety of fur bearing animals in South Central and Southwestern Nebraska which includes fox, beaver, raccoon, badger, coyote, deer, rabbit, mink, bobcat, otter, muskrat and prairie dogs.

BIRD WATCHING

There are over 400 species of birds found in the Oxford vicinity!  Some favorites are the Bald Eagles and water fowl.  See our Bird Watching page and

OUTDOOR SPORTS

Golf, swimming, hiking, biking, bird watching, camping and fishing, road races, baseball, soccer and spending time with family fill summer days for people visiting and living in Oxford. Contests and games held in conjunction with the Turkey Days Celebration include Mud Volleyball, Paintballs, Road Race and carnival.
